About Matchbox Chimney Sweeps

Matchbox Chimney Sweeps began in 1982 with Tony & Phyllis Paolino. Phyllis saw an ad in a magazine with dollar signs around it reading “make money, become a chimney sweep.” With Tony working nights at Franz Bakery and doorknobbing during the day, and Phyllis working the phones and mail, they built up Matchbox Chimney Sweeps with integrity and customer loyalty.

In 2009, Tony swept the chimney at the home of Garen & Barb Sigler, who were installing a new woodstove. Tony mentioned a business opportunity, and the next chapter of Matchbox Chimney Sweeps continued. Garen & Barb Sigler have lived here in Clark County, WA since 1975. Barb is in the office, answering phones, texts, emails, questions, and scheduling appointments. Garen is the Certified Chimney Sweep, visiting homes, answering questions, explaining chimneys, and ensuring they are ready for continued burning or the next burning season.

Together, Garen & Barb continue the traditions started in 1982.

Certification

Garen has been continually certified since 2009. Continued certification ensures a professional, knowledgeable experience with codes, clearances, and safety.

Honesty & Integrity

All used wood burning devices should be inspected annually, but they don’t always need to be swept. Thus our continued policy & pricing of inspection first, sweep only if build up and need for it.
